This special chemical is used as a marker to denote a person for sacrifice to the great Baleshi. Usually reserved for dead bodies, the flesh marker is used to speed up the process in which a person’s corpse is consumed by the gods. On contact with flesh, the chemical marker will give off a signal which lets the Baleshi’s internal organs absorb the marked being. The symbol drawn can vary between elders and Baleshi, but the important thing is the chemical itself which is produced from a single gland. The location of this gland is a well-kept secret among the council elders. Avoiding skin contact while applying the marker is important and so a rod or other long stick is used. A lesson well learned from the past.
